Beyond the surface
Lac des Toules, Switzerland, 2023. The Lac des Toules is an artificial basin at an altitude of 1800masl very close to the Gran San Bernardo Pass. An energy company has developed a floating island made up of solar panels. The efficiency of solar radiation is better in the high mountains also due to the albedo effect (especially in winter with snow). This island is able to energetically support 220 homes.
